About the Role
We are seeking a hands on Mechanical Engineer with strong mechanical and engine component knowledge, ideally starting from a mechanic background and progressing into more advanced engineering responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working with engine assemblies, precision components, and abrasive tooling. This role involves the careful disassembly, inspection, preparation, and reassembly of mechanical and engine-based systems for high quality engineering displays.

Key Responsibilities
Mechanical & Engine Component Work
- Perform detailed disassembly of engine components and mechanical assemblies, ensuring all parts are handled with accuracy and care.
- Identify, inspect, and assess the condition of components during disassembly.
- Execute precise reassembly following documentation, diagrams, or original build standards.
Abrasive Tooling & Component Preparation
- Use a range of abrasive tools (grinders, polishers, deburring tools) to clean, prepare, and finish components to exhibition-standard quality.
- Work collaboratively with surface finishing teams (polishing, painting, coating) to ensure parts are prepared correctly for display.
- Maintain safe and correct use of abrasive tooling and ensure components are not damaged during processing.
Documentation & Cataloguing
- Carefully catalogue components during disassembly, creating accurate part logs, diagrams, or photographic documentation.
- Update documentation throughout the process to support precise reassembly and internal quality standards.
Collaboration & Display Preparation
- Partner with fabricators to design and build stands, supports, and crates for transporting and displaying engine components and mechanical systems.
- Support exhibition preparation by ensuring all components meet visual and technical quality expectations.
Quality & Technical Standards
- Conduct quality assurance checks across all phases of disassembly, prep, and reassembly.
- Maintain high attention to detail, ensuring all work meets engineering, safety, and aesthetic standards.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Strong mechanical or mechanic background, ideally with hands-on experience working on engines, generators, hydraulic systems, or similar assemblies.
- Experience in engine disassembly and reassembly, with sound knowledge of mechanical components.
- Proficiency in the safe use of abrasive tools and surface prep equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to create accurate documentation and follow detailed build records.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable
- Experience working with hydraulic valves, generators, or other precision-engineered assemblies.
- Experience supporting exhibitions, engineering displays, or technical demonstrations.

Why Join
- Innovative, hands on engineering projects working with real mechanical systems.
- Collaborative and supportive environment.
- Opportunities to expand skills across design, precision engineering, and display work.
- Competitive salary and long-term career development potential.
